Crisis Intervention Program
Crisis Response volunteers serve alongside our crisis staff and assist in providing emotional support, practical assistance, information, and referrals to victims in the immediate aftermath of a crime or tragic circumstances. They assist with safety planning and case management for survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, abduction, assault, break and enter, criminal harassment, elder abuse, family crisis, fraud/theft, fire, grief, and bereavement, hate crimes, homicide, internet crime, missing persons, robbery, sudden death, and suicide.
Crisis Response volunteers fulfill their shifts on-site at one of our two office locations during the day as well as on weekends.
In-Office Crisis Response Shifts:
Weekdays: 8:30 am - 12:30 pm / 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm
Weekends: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm / 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Competencies Required: Must be socially and conversationally proficient, able to easily establish rapport with others, convey empathy and validate, active listening skills are a vital component of this work as are critical thinking skills, an ability to assess needs and prioritize, be adaptable and self-reflective and on a continuous learning path, possess the ability to remain composed during repeated exposure to traumatic situations and content.

Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.

Must be available to commit to 3 shifts per month.

Must have access to a vehicle and possess a valid Ontario driver's license.

A minimum of $1,000,000 automobile insurance.

Accepted candidates must complete a two-stage interview process.

Submission of all required forms and documentation including an oath of confidentiality.

Must attend all scheduled training sessions and complete all assignments and assessments.
*Applicants must be able to commit to one full year of active service following successful training outcomes.
Bail Court Program
Bail Court Recorders serve remotely from their place of residence, log in to a Provincial court room and assist our court staff in advocating on behalf of our clients through the bail process. Recorders accurately document all relevant facts specific to each case on a court intervention record. Completed records are forwarded to our crisis team who in turn contact the clients and share this vital information, safety plan, and provide additional support as required.
Competencies Required: Ability to maintain focus for long stretches of time, possess an attention for detail as accuracy is crucial, maintain consistent and open communication with court staff while ensuring confidentiality processes are maintained, obtain clarification as required, reliability and consistency in service is essential.

Must be available to commit to 12-16 hours per month.

Customer Service Ambassadors
Victim Services of Peel receives a portion of revenues through our partnership with the OCGA (Ontario Charity Gaming Association) that are vital to the programs and services we provide. Two customer service ambassadors must represent our agency during scheduled sessions for us to be eligible to receive our portion of the revenues. This role provides support to the Bingo Hall staff and runners, includes greeting and conversing with guests, assisting with bingo, food tray delivery, and clean up.
Session Days/Times:
Rama: Two sessions per month, held in Mississauga from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Tuesdays.
Delta: Two sessions per month, held in Brampton from 12:00 to 2:00 pm on Fridays.
Competencies Required: Comfortable with social interaction with the public, embrace diversity and convey a combination of warmth and confidence, able to consistently stand for a duration of two hours, dependable and able to effectively manage timelines and commitment, and enjoy serving others. Volunteers in this role must be available to commit to 2 shifts per month.
